Not just a good mail day, but a good mail minute
Just landed on my desk:

1. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
2. The 1994 Roger Corman-directed Fantastic Four movie.

Harry Potter unfortunately has to wait a few more days until I finish the new John Irving. Consequently, anybody who attempts to discuss any plot points in my presence until about Friday will get their ass kicked.

Here's the question of the day:

What should I do first?

Do let me know if you're interested in joining me for either or both at some point near the end of the week.

Also, I'm bound and determined to go to trivia tomorrow, even if I have to be on a team all by my own self, and so you should join me so as to save me from this embarassment. [info]offbalance? [info]alcestis? [info]tacologic? Daryl? Jeremy? Phil? Who's up for it?

(Moreover I have to go so that I can pick up some answer sheets, being that [info]tacologic and I are hosting next week, the 26th. Mark your calendars - we have something special planned.)

My weekend was pretty fantastic. Last night to decompress I joined [info]offbalance for a truly yummy dinner, our usual scintillating banter, and a rousing round of our favorite game, Mock The Weirdos on OKCupid. Proof positive that the Blerg and Shaz Show remains very much like a low-budget Sex and the City. Cameo appearances were made by [info]quasisonic and her LJ-free (remarkably so, given that everyone and their dog seems to have one these days) boy.

Argh! The craptasticity of having class on Tuesdays and Thursdays in July. I go back to Mondays and Thursdays in September so I can do trivia then.

Yeah, I figured, but on some miraculous chance that your classroom got crushed by falling airplane parts or something, I thought I'd ask. :)

c) Download the movie and watch both, never leaving the air-conditioned goodness of your apartment.

Hmmm, tempting, given that I just got the super-sexy hi-speed connection last week!

OHHHH, question for you: which John Irving should I read now that I've read A Prayer for Owen Meany? I have ONLY read that one, actually, and am wondering if anything else is good enough to read after that one. Let me know which I should try. I was thinking of A Widow for One Year, but I don't know...???
blergeatkitty From: [info]blergeatkitty Date: July 18th, 2005 03:09 pm (UTC) (Link)
A Widow For One Year is good, though I'd probably recommend The World According to Garp or The Hotel New Hampshire next, and if you like those and want to go with all of them, then Widow or The Cider House Rules or The Fourth Hand and then Son of the Circus or the new one, and if (and ONLY if) you're addicted, then I say get to his first three or his nonfiction. That's roughly a descending order of accessibility. :)

See the flick! If nothing else, to go "rawr" over Jessica Alba in a tight sweater acting all sexxah-scientist-ish.

I will be at trivia tomorrow!

But I will be hosting. Nyah.

Glad you're coming. It should be fun!!

Yeah, I almost said "Caren, are you coming?" but then I realized it was you and Jon hosting. Since you are both awesome hosts, I anticipate fun times. :)

Sorry. Can't. I'll be at Summerstage, seeing one of your imaginary boyfriends.

I know...and I'm jealous, being that he's performing with one of my imaginary girlfriends...but I just couldn't swing the fifty bucks this time 'round meself.

Hope it's a great show!

Yeah, I may go to trivia tomorrow as well, albeit late. Don't know. I like when Caren hosts and I haven't been in awhile.
